Refinancing

Wondering if you should refinance? There are a number of factors that go into a decision to obtain a new home loan. Opes Advisors can help you identify good opportunities and avoid taking steps that will betray your financial goals.

In addition to the desire to get a lower rate, some people wish to refinance to get extra cash out of their home for a remodel, or to pay for some expense. When is that a good idea and when is it a mistake? Without a view of your complete financial picture, it is impossible for you to know the answer.

Questions we are often asked:

  • I want to refinance to take some money out of my house to remodel it. Should I?
  • I just refinanced 3 months ago, and now the rates are lower. Should I refinance again?
  • What is the payback period for the closing costs?
  • Should I pay points?

Questions worth considering:

  • If I refinance my loan, that means I will have a loan well into my seventies. Is this a smart thing to do?
  • If I refinance with you, are there additional services I will get? Or, is it just a transaction and it’s over?
  • How do I think about how much loan to get and what the terms should be?
