Alex Katz leads the business development efforts for Opes Advisors. His focus is on delivering Opes Advisors’ innovative balance sheet-centric planning solutions to help Wealth Management and Mortgage clients achieve their financial goals. Alex is responsible for strategic and tactical planning, sales development and market share growth. He coordinates the efforts of the wealth management team, mortgage teams, marketing, client services and recruiting to drive the expansion of the Opes Offer, both in wealth management and mortgage.
Prior to joining Opes Advisors, Alex held several Group Vice President positions over the course of 10 years at Fisher Investments. Alex ran the North American Private Client Group Sales division that produced $4 billion annually in new assets under management and he oversaw 90 salespeople and 25 sales support staff located throughout the U.S. Prior to Sales, Alex ran the Trading and Investment Operations Group, where he was responsible for all trading execution and reconciliation, portfolio accounting, valuation and reporting for the firm’s $40 billion in AUM and 25,000+ clients. Prior to Trading, Alex ran the Research Group, overseeing all Capital Markets and Securities level analysis and the teams responsible for performance reporting, portfolio implementation and client suitability analysis. He also sat on the committees for Portfolio Management, Trading Practices, Valuation and Proxy Voting. Prior to Fisher Investments Alex held Account Executive positions with The Campbell Group and Trahan, Burden & Charles.
Alex holds a BA in psychology from Dartmouth College. He lives with his wife and daughters in Los Altos.
